If you’ve been to a football game at the University of Houston TDECU Stadium, you’ve seen the work of Danielle Parker. Part of her responsibilities as a video production assistant with UH Athletics is to create videos for the video boards during the home games.

“I deal with creating and shooting the videos and editing them,” Parker said. “Days here are often hectic. I’m really enjoying working with sports.”

Parker, who is a 2016 graduate of the UH Digital Media program, also works with the UH soccer program ensuring there is a live stream of the games and post-game highlights for YouTube. She credits the UH Digital Media program with preparing her to be a professional in the industry.

“Digital Media offered everything I wanted to learn—arts, science, technology and business, though my main focus was motion media,” she said. “Editing videos allows me to show everyone my creative side. The professors helped me to sharpen my skills and prepare me for this job.”

Digital Media, housed in the College of Technology, offers a Bachelor of Science degree. The Motion Media emphasis prepares students to produce camera-captured and animated video content for clients in a variety of industries.

“We are very intentional in the Digital Media Program about preparing our students for the career market,” said Phil Snyder, instructional assistant professor with the program. “Danielle’s success is the kind that inspires us even further.”

“I chose Digital Media because I wanted to be a well-rounded individual with leadership skills,” Parker said. “The professors helped me sharpen my skills and prepared me for this job. I’m forever grateful to them.”
